Ideas on the Run

Before an idea becomes a story a snippet of what it could be comes to mind. A scene, a character, an image or song pops up and suddenly there's a new project on the horizon.
Having this happen mid-project however, is less than ideal. Not wanting to lose momentum for current work in exchange for chasing this new idea, writing it down to pick up later is what Snippets is all about!

Don't Stop Writing
Many writers experience the need to chase all the buzzing ideas that float in their heads because each one is a potential best seller. Each idea worthy of being brought to life on the page. In some cases this is to the detriment of their current WIP (work in progress). As one idea is chased, and then another, a string of unfinished work is left in the writer's wake. A novel begun and stopped four chapters later. A trilogy series left abandoned. Such tragedies strike unintentionally and are not always rectified.
But letting the ideas float off into the distance is ill advised as well. Glimpses of stories yet born rarely turn around to come back once they slip through the fingers of those unable or unwilling to catch them in time. In some fortunate cases the ideas grow on their own, refusing to leave the mind until they're written down and brought out to take form into a story that is as all consuming as the last project. In either eventuality, the new idea has popped up and as a writer there is a responsibility to explore and complete each one.
Snippets is Writer's solution to this very problem. Instead of letting go of ideas to complete current projects or abandoning projects for new ideas, why not do both and write down and develop these snippets of ideas to pick up later while finishing current projects? It sounds like taking on too much, but Snippets is the perfect dumping ground for under developed ideas to take shape.
Each entry showcases a chapter, cover, idea, song, image, etc. of the snippet, open to current readers. This encourages feedback before a story has even begun! The most positive and interactive feedback could help indicate which project to pick up next.
